Major Model Changes to the Tiger I

During the time it was being produced, the Tiger I underwent many changes, both minor and major. This evolution was a result of a number of different factors including revised specifications, feedback from the field, and material shortages. Listed here are some of the major changes that occurred after the first Tigers were delivered in August of 1942.

The lack of track guards or Feifel air cleaners identify this as a very early model.

August 1942

· Retaining hooks for rear louvers added.

· Mounting boss holes for camouflage frame added.

· Smoke candle dischargers added.

· Complete tool set added.

September 1942

· Track cable is added to the hull side.

October 1942

· Antenna base on rear removed.

· Convoy tail light added.

· Shovel mounted on glacis.

dischargers identify this as an April or May '43 Tiger.
